Fletchers Group News Update – 03 February

February 2nd 2014

Wow! Who can believe that it is February already?! The year is flying by, and is only going to get busier in the coming weeks as the auction calendar gets back into full motion.

We enjoyed some lovely weather over the weekend, a perfect way to ease back into the swing of auctions. The REIV recorded 81 auction results across Melbourne but again, due to the low volume of recorded auctions, no official clearance rate was recorded. Fletchers held 3 auctions across the Eastern suburbs over the weekend and we are pleased to report that all sold on the day.

A standout sale for the day was the immaculately presented two bedroom, two bathroom Californian bungalow at 3 Barkly Street in Box Hill. Offering spacious family living coupled with versatile spaces, including two loft rooms suitable for home offices or study, plus the benefits of an all-weather alfresco entertaining deck, this home has it all. Four bidders competed to secure the property, pushing the selling price above reserve to $1.24 million…a fantastic result for all!

A crowd of over ninety people gathered to see the auction of the three bedroom, one bathroom home at 71 Nungerner Street in Balwyn. The home features light and bright kitchen/family/meals, formal living and separate dining and is all set on an easily maintained block within the Balwyn High Zone. Director and Auctioneer Tim Heavyside didn’t have a problem getting this property on the market, with five competing bidders pushing the eventual selling price well above reserve. The property sold for $1.26 million…needless to say Tim and co-agent Brooke Warwick had very happy vendors and purchasers! The property was the third highest sale over the weekend, as recorded by the REIV.

In its first board meeting for 2014 the RBA will announce its interest rate decision, with experts predicting that the cash rate will be left on hold.

Looking for a way to keep cool in the heat? Heading to the movies is always a guaranteed way to beat the heat. Check out Fletchers review of the latest blockbuster, The Wolf Of Wall Street. Based on the real life story of Jordan Belfort, this movie has proved extremely popular since its release but be warned…it’s not one for the children or those easily offended!

Remember to keep up-to-date with Fletchers latest news and information on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Have a great week!
