17th November 2014 / Jeremy Desmier: Fletchers Group News Update 17 November

It was an overcast start to the weekend here in Melbourne and unfortunately the weather didn't get any better by the last of our auctions on Saturday. It didn't seem to deter buyers however, and some welcome sunshine on Sunday afternoon provided the perfect chance to relax before another busy week in the office.

The REIV recorded a 69% clearance rate over the weekend. Of the 1,165 auctions reported, 802 were sold and 363 were passed in. This year has shown some impressive results, particularly considering that the number of auctions this year is 17% higher than the same time last year.

Fletchers eastern suburbs offices had another busy weekend, with 20 auctions taking place across Saturday and Sunday. We achieved a success rate of 65%, with 13 properties sold.

The auction of 51 Mersey Street, Box Hill North was exciting, with seven bidders hoping to secure this family home. The four bedroom home offers a light filled kitchen, family living and dining room under a lofty cathedral ceiling. It was a great result for our vendors, with the property selling for $1.04 million.

At 4 Victor Crescent in Forest Hill there were five bidders eager to secure this property. The original brick three bedroom home, located in a quiet and convenient pocket, is brimming with potential for renovation into a contemporary family home. With five bidders, the property sold for a pleasing $746,000.

Also up for auction on Saturday was 32 Aquila Street, Balwyn North. A luxurious five bedroom home with five bathrooms, open plan living, gas stone fireplace and a large covered alfresco area. The property was formally passed in and subsequently sold shortly after auction for $2.55 million after careful negotiations conducted by agents Jeremy Desmier and Jack Peng.

A big congratulations to our colleagues Brooke, Annie, Robyn and Michelle, members of the Fletchers City2sea team, who completed the 5km run from the Melbourne CBD to St Kilda on Sunday. Not only did the team run 5km, they also raised nearly $3,000 to support beyondblue in the fight against depression and anxiety in Australia. Well done!

On Wednesday the 19th of November, Maling Road will be holding the VIP Shopping Night. Head down to Maling Road between 5pm and 9pm and if you spend over $50, you will go in the draw to win a $500 Maling Road voucher. A great excuse to go shopping!

Fletchers is proud to be supporting The Great Fete this Saturday the 22nd, at Hartwell Primary School in Camberwell. A great day for the whole family, there are plenty of rides, activities, stalls and performances by the schools choir and band. The Great Fete is open from 1pm until 8pm, so you have got plenty of time to stop by and support one of our local schools. The fete will be held at Hartwell Primary School, Milverton Street, Camberwell.

Be sure to keep up-to-date with Fletchers latest news and information on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
