28th May 2012 / Jeremy Desmier: Fletchers Group News Update – 28 May

Auctions on the weekend saw a day of mixed results across the board, illustrating buyer awareness and the value of well-priced and conveniently located properties.

The REIV recorded a clearance rate of 59 per cent on the weekend, a slight improvement from 56 per cent on the same weekend last year. This comes after the clearance rate had been over 60 per cent for three consecutive weeks, the first time in 14 months that this has been achieved.

First home buyers were out in force for the auction of 8 Jarvis Avenue, Croydon – a charming updated 1950's two bedroom home with polished timber floors. Five bidders competed, with the property eventually selling for $345,000.

Many people also attended the first auction of the day at 766 Canterbury Road, Surrey Hills which was held in the backyard. Although it was a somewhat slow process, the auction buzzed with activity and was rife with the anticipation of each bid. The home eventually sold above reserve, under the hammer for $826,000. Auctioneer Jeremy Desmier conducted proceedings in a professional manner as always, ensuring that the crowd was kept engaged for its entirety. He was accompanied by Lester Mitchell, Julie Roach and Steven Lowry who ably assisted the smooth flow of the auction.

Many of our sales agents headed up to the Gold Coast after auction day on Saturday, to attend what is arguably the best real estate conference in the world – AREC. The feedback was resoundingly positive, with the fantastic speaker line-up including the most successful and prolific property icon, Donald Trump.

In other news our favourite property show, MPTV, is entering its 4th season with a bang! It is now called My Property TV and will commence broadcasting nationally on Tuesday, 12 June at 7.30pm on TV4ME (digital 74). The only weekly TV show about the market, it will have a national reach of 22 million people. Fletchers will feature in a number of ways, so make sure you tune in!
