4th June 2013 / Jeremy Desmier: Fletchers Group News Update – 5 June

The REIV recorded a clearance rate of 74 per cent this weekend, compared to 56 per cent on the same weekend last year. Fletchers achieved outstanding results again with eight out of twelve properties up for auction selling on the day.

Shortlisted for Australian House of the Year by Houses Magazine in 2011, 26 Caithness Crescent in Glen Waverley was sure to attract a lot of attention throughout its marketing campaign. Architecturally re-designed and reconstructed, the four bedroom, two bathroom home features living and dining areas drenched in natural light, complementing cathedral ceilings and an impressive entertainer's deck offering views of The Dandenongs that are even more spectacular at night! Amazingly, the property sold to a buyer who had only seen home's profile on the internet the night before, demonstrating the immense appeal of the property.

The immaculate four bedroom family home at 1 Leroy Place in Doncaster East was a great sale for Manningham agents Maurie Walters and Jason Salan. Featuring spacious living and entertaining areas, an alfresco terrace and drought-friendly garden, this property is ideally located only a minutes walk to shopping centres and Eastern Freeway. Five bidders fought it out to secure the property, which sold for an impressive $37,000 over reserve.

Warm, welcoming and well renovated, the attractive three bedroom weatherboard home at 42 Mersey Street in Box Hill proved to be opportunity that was too good to miss. The home, which has been modernised with style and flair, combines period features with recent improvements in perfect alliance. Selling prior to auction, this property was one that buyers could not wait to have as their own!

As expected, the RBA has left interest rates at the historic low of 2.75 per cent. In a statement accompanying the decision, RBA governor Glenn Stevens said household spending had been helped by lower interest rates. "Further effects can be expected over time," Mr Stevens said on Tuesday. He went on to say, "The board judged that the easier financial conditions now in place will contribute to a strengthening of growth over time." Read the full article here.
