Wet and cold weather was not the ideal combination for auctions on the weekend, but thankfully it was a bit quieter than normal. Just when we thought the rain had finally stopped, there was a sudden yet refreshing downpour!
The REIV reported a clearance rate of 76% over the weekend. There were just 479 auctions reported, with 366 selling. There were 2,300 auctions sales in June 2015, compared to 2,100 in the same period last year. Balwyn North and Glen Waverley recorded the highest number of auction sales for the month of June, at 39 and 37 respectively.
The Reserve Bank is expected to hold interest rates steady at the record low rate of 2 per cent this week. The recent turmoil in Greece has pushed the Australian dollar down to a six year low and while Australia's direct exposure to the Greek economy is minimal, there may be noticeable ramifications for global financial markets.
It was a quiet weekend for Fletchers with five auctions scheduled and a 60% success rate achieved. We also saw some great sales at the Fletchers Diamond Valley Office.
