It was a hot weekend in Melbourne with temperatures over 30 degrees, but crowds of prospective purchasers still gathered at auctions to secure their dream home before Christmas.

The REIV reported a clearance rate of 67% with 1,236 auctions held on Saturday. There are more than 1,400 auctions scheduled for next week, which will make it the final 'Super Saturday' for 2015.

Competitive bidding helped the property reach a final sale price of $1.215 million.
