Saturday started out a bit grey, but certainly warmed up with both the bidding and weather!

The REIV reported a clearance rate of 71 per cent over the weekend. There were 953 auctions scheduled, 575 of those selling. Family homes in inner and middle Melbourne have shown the highest growth in the 12 months to September.

In Mitcham, 1/445 Mitcham Road sold under the hammer on Saturday. The expansive town residence offers three bedrooms, open plan living, dining and a modern kitchen. The property also offers a gorgeous north facing garden with paved area and cubby. Auction day saw five bidders all hoping to secure the home, which sold for $81,000 over reserve – an excellent result of $821,000.

Five bidders helped this home reach a final sale price of $480,000.

Upstairs an entertainment room opens to a balcony boasting city views. Five bidders helped the property sell for $1.73 million.

In Balwyn North, the extended family home at 15 Aylmer Street in Balwyn North offered an impressive future. The existing four bedroom home maintains elegant traditions with an open fireplace and ornate ceilings, whilst modern desires are catered for with open plan living, meals, granite kitchen and covered alfresco area. This block of approximately 822 sq m, offers approved plans and permits, with the property selling for $2.4 million.
